About Golden River Music

A music publisher run by musicians, for musicians. From Dendermonde, Belgium, to music stands around the world.

Our story

Until 1993, Rik Vercruysse played horn full time in Belgian orchestras. When one of them ran into serious financial trouble, he decided to build something of his own: a publishing house that would give him independence and give Belgian composers a platform.

The name came quickly. Rik grew up in Beveren-Leie, on the river Leie, where the retting of flax once turned the water golden. The word River also hides his initials: R and V.

Many of the first publications became standard repertoire in Belgian music academies. What started as a one-man business grew into a team, and a catalogue that now ranges from first-year pieces to choral works, wind band, chamber music and scholarly historical series.

In 2025 we became the distributor of edition offenburg and took a major step into digital distribution with E-scores, while revising older editions for a new generation of musicians.
